Fulkaxó

The Fulkaxó project was created as part of an initiative on behalf of the public cultural center Sesc to document and preserve part of the culture of the native Brazilian tribe Kariri-Xocó, who live at the mouth of the São Francisco River, in the state of Alagoas. The texts included in “Fulkaxó – Ser e Viver Kariri-Xocó” were written by Nhenety Kariri-Xocó and present an overview of customs, histories, traditions, mythologies, and the cuisine of this tribe. In addition to the photographic record in the book, a documentary “Louceiras – Fulkaxó, Ser e Viver Kariri-Xocó” portrays the work of female ceramicists from the tribe, who are known for their clay pots.
